I enjoy New York and all the city has to offer, so i wanted to show that in a film.

I didn’t want to speed by everything fast, so instead i choose to show what you see if you road the Staten Island Ferry.

I think that it is different from the other two that i made, and that i am glad that i got to make it.

 This Short film was made in 2006! and I hope that in the near future that I start back up!   I  have a ton of very strange ideas that I would love to bring to life!

I like the way that this film on the little hairy animals turned out. I feel that it has almost an animal planet kind of feel to it.

There are some nice up close parts that most of the time are not able to be seen. And the ending is somewhat of a horrid surprise that is seems to surprise the watcher out of no where.  This is one of the few films that I have made.

I have Two others that are the most funniest thing ever, sadly I have made a promise to never put them on the web!, but who know’s they may one day just find their way back.  This film is from 2006! and I hope that you enjoy it!!!!

chris martin 2  I can’t stress this enough!  Art work that you make, and that others like will be copyed!!!!! or someone will try to play it off as there own!  Dont allow this to happen to you! make sure to get a copyright, before you start to show your work off to the world!

So what is copyright??? A Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U.S. Code) to the authors of “original works of authorship,” including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works. Section 106 of the 1976 Copyright Act generally gives the owner of copyright the exclusive right to do and to authorize others to do the following:

To reproduce the work in copies or phonorecords; To prepare derivative works based upon the work;

To distribute copies or phonorecords of the work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending;

To perform the work publicly, in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and motion pictures and other audiovisual works;

To display the copyrighted work publicly , in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and pictorial, graphic, or sculptural works, including the individual images of a motion picture or other audiovisual work; and

In the case of sound recordings, to perform the work publicly by means of a digital audio transmission.

How do I GO and get a copyright??? Well, the way to do that is  frequently misunderstood. No publication or registration or other action in the Copyright Office is required to secure copyright. There are, however, certain definite advantages to registration.

Copyright is secured automatically when the work is created, and a work is “created” when it is fixed in a copy or phonorecord for the first time. “Copies” are material objects from which a work can be read or visually perceived either directly or with the aid of a machine or device, such as books, manuscripts, sheet music, film, videotape, or microfilm. “Phonorecords” are material objects embodying fixations of sounds (excluding, by statutory definition, motion picture soundtracks), such as cassette tapes, CDs, or LPs. Thus, for example, a song (the “work”) can be fixed in sheet music (” copies”) or in phonograph disks (” phonorecords”), or both.

If a work is prepared over a period of time, the part of the work that is fixed on a particular date constitutes the created work as of that date.

The use of a copyright notice is no longer required under U. S. law, although it is often beneficial. Because prior law did contain such a requirement, however, the use of notice is still relevant to the copyright status of older works.

Notice was required under the 1976 Copyright Act. This requirement was eliminated when the United States adhered to the Berne Convention, effective March 1, 1989. Although works published without notice before that date could have entered the public domain in the United States, the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA) restores copyright in certain foreign works originally published without notice. For further information about copyright amendments in the URAA, request Circular 38b .

The Copyright Office does not take a position on whether copies of works first published with notice before March 1, 1989, which are distributed on or after March 1, 1989, must bear the copyright notice.

Use of the notice may be important because it informs the public that the work is protected by copyright, identifies the copyright owner, and shows the year of first publication. Furthermore, in the event that a work is infringed, if a proper notice of copyright appears on the published copy or copies to which a defendant in a copyright infringement suit had access, then no weight shall be given to such a defendant’s interposition of a defense based on innocent infringement in mitigation of actual or statutory damages, except as provided in section 504(c)(2) of the copyright law. Innocent infringement occurs when the infringer did not realize that the work was protected.

The use of the copyright notice is the responsibility of the copyright owner and does not require advance permission from, or registration with, the Copyright Office.

How long is a copyright good for???

Works Originally Created on or after January 1, 1978

A work that is created (fixed in tangible form for the first time) on or after January 1, 1978, is automatically protected from the moment of its creation and is ordinarily given a term enduring for the author’s life plus an additional 70 years after the author’s death. In the case of “a joint work prepared by two or more authors who did not work for hire,” the term lasts for 70 years after the last surviving author’s death. For works made for hire, and for anonymous and pseudonymous works (unless the author’s identity is revealed in Copyright Office records), the duration of copyright will be 95 years from publication or 120 years from creation, whichever is shorter.

For works Originally Created before January 1, 1978, But Not Published or Registered by That Date

These works have been automatically brought under the statute and are now given federal copyright protection. The duration of copyright in these works will generally be computed in the same way as for works created on or after January 1, 1978: the life-plus-70 or 95/120-year terms will apply to them as well. The law provides that in no case will the term of copyright for works in this category expire before December 31, 2002, and for works published on or before December 31, 2002, the term of copyright will not expire before December 31, 2047.

 So make it a point, and start copyrighting your work today! Because you really don’t want to deal with the pain of not doing so in the future!!!!!

welcome back!! Sorry for not having an up-date for the last two day!

chris martin Today I would like to talk about how to get your art work out into the public’s eyes!

Having your art work stuck in the basement, so only the rats and mice can see it really doesn’t accomplishes anything good. Yeah, your family might see it, but do they really car that much?? maybe, but that wont get money in your pocket! right!

Get your work out of storage, out of the old smelly basement, and start showing it to everyone, and I mean EVERYONE!!!!! It 100% recommend that you start with displaying your artwork in high traffic businesses and restaurants or going to an art gallery and saying ” ill let you have this piece of art, in exchange for space to hang it up”.

It is possible they will say hell no!, but you haven’t lost anything. Don’t give up! go to the next place, then the next, next,next, and so on! Sometime you will get your break!! Never get angry, or mad! Keep it positive!

Also keep in mind that Businesses and restaurants want to make money, so lots of times they try to enhance their environments. This is done because they need to reach out to customers, jus the very same as your trying to do.

Maybe, when your eating, the wall on one side looks bare, and your artwork could very well complement the ambiance of their business. Take the risk and ask them if they would allow you to display your art at no charge to them. Why loan out your artwork? So that you can place a small sign or plague in close proximity to the piece of art.

Then go and make a very nice looking type of signage. This will be your way of letting the customer know where they can buy this piece and where they can contact the artist to preview additional items for sale. Remember the Artwork that you choose needs to fit in perfectly! That means choose carefully!

I’m writing this to not just help you all out, but so that I can start to do the very same, since this is one thing that I have never done before….

So get out their with your art and sell it without really selling… good luck, but don’t rely on it!!!!!!

Chris MarinWhen I say implied, what comes to mind?  One thing that I think of, is when my mother says ” You better, be home on time” to one of my sister.

      ’Implied’ means  Something that is suggested or inferred, rather than directly apparent.

     The reason that I want to talk about this, is for the fact that a giant amount of the art that I have been creating over the years, and still will continue to create, implies many different things at times!!!!

      Sometimes I want to show how I feel, or send a message.  The greatest thing about implied art is often it almost like a secret code!!!   Code??  Its a great way to show how your feeling, or how others feel, without them ever noticing, when looking at the art!  This reason has to be my most favorite of them all…

       It is almost guaranteed that every artist out their implies, many different things in the art that they make!

       I choose to keep the things that I imp-lie in my art, like I said early a ’secret’, but maybe you can uncover them!!

Chris MarinFirst off, the word quirky means something that is strange/not normal but cool!

     I would think that this is a great example of my art. My art is very weird at times! It is sometimes hard for others to figure out what the art is, but as soon as i tell them, its like their eyes suddenly open!

    I have in the past been told by teachers (the few that i have shown) that my work isn’t normal, and shouldn’t be continued! or, they would say, try to stop, and instead look at my work, so that you can have a path to go by…….

     That is why I’m writing this for artist/ students…

     I think that the biggest mistake that happens in the art world is that students will stop making their unique style for something that is mass-produced!!!

    I’m not saying stop listening to the teachers but, but, don’t stop making your own on the side!! Art is art! Like if  you make a line on a piece of paper…that is art!!!  no matter what one Say’s!

      My quirky way of making art is very special to me! Never in a million years would i stop because someone told me too!!! and that is what artist everywhere need to do!

     Go along with the teacher, but don’t stop what your doing…….

Chris MarinWell today is a very rainy here in Milwaukee, so its perfect to up-load a few pieces for you all!

The first one for today is titled “dancing Cat”, and once again just came to me! I think that it has a feeling of the cat being sad, about something!

 dancing cat  The next one is titled “red frog, blue frog”, and this is an example of the different styles that I use!  You can see that dots, just like my other piece’s our used to create the frog in two of the parts!

 red frog, blue frog

The last two, are just a few older works from I think 2004, that I came across on a CD!
